Another goal that I’m trying to achieve this year is to exercise once a week. I’ve learnt that goals are better set as habits, i.e. instead of aiming to be a better writer, my goal is to write daily. Instead of trying to get to specific bodyweight, my goal is to exercise weekly.
It’s too early to say whether I will accomplish these goals, but so far, I’m grateful that I have not missed a week since the first week of January 2020.
The type of exercises varies – swimming, jogging, running on the treadmill at the gym, dancing at home, and going to Zumba with my colleagues. When I’m swamped for any of those, I will do 10-15 minutes yoga.
In February, I managed to go to Zumba every week. They were super fun, sweat-ful, and I learn a few things about myself.
- I really love dancing, and who doesn’t.
- I become self-aware of my mental blocks around dancing, i.e. the arms and legs coordination as well as the left and right confusion.
- I’m more comfortable with masculine moves than the feminine ones, i.e. steps influenced by belly dance and salsa. Maybe I’m shy, or perhaps they are just hard.
