One of my goals this year is to post more content on the internet, primarily on my blog and Instagram. Additionally, I plan to share quick and tiny updates through Facebook and Twitter.
This has always been my intention or rather dream since a decade ago, but it has never materialised – at least, not consistently. Therefore, I am making this personal guideline to help me stay consistent.
A’ishah, and to anyone who has a similar goal as mine,
Embrace Imperfection
Don’t worry if your content is not congruent in theme or message. It’s important to remember that perfection is not a prerequisite for sharing your thoughts and ideas. Embrace the diversity in your content; it reflects the multifaceted nature of your personality and interests.
Quality is Subjective
Don’t worry if it’s not good – ugly, pointless, or grammatically incorrect. The value of your content is not solely determined by its aesthetic or grammatical perfection. Sometimes, the raw and unpolished posts resonate the most with people.
Audience Size Doesn’t Define Success
Don’t worry if nobody reads or likes it. The number of readers or likes does not measure the worth of your content. Focus on the joy of creating and sharing rather than the external validation.
Short and Sweet
Don’t worry if it’s short or lacks depth. Not every post needs to be a comprehensive article. Short updates, thoughts, or observations can be just as impactful and engaging.
Tap into Your Ideas
You already have many ideas. If you don’t, you can always share things that inspire you or adapt (and tweak) other people’s content. Inspiration is all around you; tap into it and make it your own.
Share Your Stories
Remember that you have many stories to share. Focus on your good intention to enrich other people’s lives with your stories. Your unique experiences and perspectives can offer valuable insights and comfort to others.
Consistency is Key
The only thing you have to do is show up. Even with a simple “Hi, how are you today? I’m doing good” kind of post. Consistency builds a habit and gradually strengthens your online presence.
Variety in Content
It doesn’t have to be a full-blown blog post. It could be a picture and caption, an Instagram story, a tweet, or a status update. Diverse content keeps your audience engaged and reflects your dynamic life.
Learn and Improve
Don’t be afraid to learn and improve. As you continue to create and share content, you will naturally get better at it. Learn from feedback and seek out new techniques to enhance your content.
Celebrate Your Progress
Celebrate your progress, no matter how small. Every piece of content you create is a step forward. Acknowledge and celebrate your efforts to stay motivated and inspired.
As long as you show up every single day, you are making progress. Keep creating and sharing, and all the best on your journey!
