Welcome to my sanctuary

Hello there, thanks for dropping by.

It’s hard to be a minimalist when you’re a mom of growing children in a household of 7 (me, the kids, plus the father and our two cats).

After my rock-bottom divorce, I discovered minimalism. However, when I remarried five years later in 2021, I got a ‘relapse’. This blog now is all about how I get it back.

I will also write more on the topics of relationships, motherhood, and children arrangement as I am now in a somehow unconventional family setting. Everyone in my nuclear family has the ‘step’ title. Stepfather. Stepmother. Stepbrother. Stepdaughter. Yes, of course, instant families has become more common now, but it is not something people really talk about, at least not in Malaysia. If you’re in the same boat as us, just know that you are not alone.

A little bit about myself. The blog is titled after my name (as if it’s not obvious) and I’m currently working my dream job 9-5 as a content writer in one of Malaysia’s energy companies. A geophysicist by background, I left my 7-year technical career to pursue my passion for writing, bridging the gap between the corporate world and its audience.

Now I work with creative teams to produce content that includes articles, social media collaterals, radio and TV scripts, and films for various communications campaigns.

Many people say that once you make your hobby a job, it’s hard to enjoy it anymore. For me, that’s not entirely true. Writing itself is an activity of many forms and expressions that may lead to different places. Writing at the office is a means for my financial stability, and it’s also where I learn more about copywriting and marketing in general. Journaling is the way I communicate with myself, and writing poetry and blogging are my hobbies. This site records snippets of my life and thoughts around minimalism, motherhood, writing, and personal development. I also publish Malay poetry (sajak) @thesajaksister on Instagram. I started the IG account with my colleague, a dear sister, who loves writing poems like me.

Other than writing, my interests revolve around nurturing others, especially my kids, through storytelling and creating art. You can say that I love content creation of all kinds – text, image, audio, and video.

With too many things to be done in so little time, I created a NOW focus. Here’s What I’m doing now.
